Presentations (PPT)

I was in Daegu this past week for DesignWeek 08, its a series of conferences on design and related matters.
It was a great experience but one thing did bother me somewhat, I mean this is suposed to be a world class event and the speakers are some pretty important/succesful people in the world of design and still they make pretty obvious mistakes (even though their presentations werent bad, it just an example), I mean they got the point through but one of the first things you learn is that when doing your presentation is important to use images and not a lot of words on each slide or you'll loose the interest of your audience (the "less is more" rule).
Here is a text from Presentation Helper that is so true "While the audience is reading your slides they are not listening to you - the speaker. A good rule of thumb is less than 40 words per slide. This would allow the average reader to take in the text in around 12 seconds and then concentrate their attention back to the speaker"
So remember to stay away from long ass presentations and dont you go doin the same, pretty pictures always work so try and incorporate your point in with them, but just that...

Strangers (not the movie, that might actually be good)

So recently a stranger sent me an email, in which he explained he knew me from my last job 3 years ago, he knew some of my friends and he wanted to be my friend, that alone freaked me out a little, I mean Ive had random people add me on msn or whatever before but after figuring out they were gay and wanted to get in my pants I blocked them, so i thought this case was the same and did not reply.
A couple of days later I got another email, now he was more direct saying "did you get my last email? arent you gonna reply?". I am sure i dont know this guy (if he really is one) but his familiarity seemed a little too much and got me doubting myself, maybe I was being the asshole for not remembering a friend...still I didnt reply, because he added me on msn. As soon as I logged in he asked if I had gotten his emails then started telling me all this people from work that he knew, also told that he didnt really know me but had seen me there and wanted to be my friend... Thats when i started laughing, I mean who asks that? its not like he is korean or something, yes he wanted me to write him emails and be his friend (gay or really weird, either way...NO) so i keep chatting trying to figure out where he got my email from and he doesnt wanna say, why I dont know but it seemed really childish.
By now I kind of enjoy being an asshole to him so i keep talking to him untill he tells me where he got my email from so then after a while he spills it, he found it on one of those old social networks that get forgotten over time. I then started going into my old profiles and removing my personal info, lesson learned. So stay away from strangers on the internetz and no personal info on public sites people!
P.S. "He" is still on my contacts list in case I wanna fight with someone.

Video Blogs

Stay away from video blogs because they are stupid. One thing the internet did was give everyone a voice, that doesn't mean you have to actually say stuff (I'm doing the same thing but at leats mine is text), nobody wants to see their ugly mugs, if your gonna do it anyway make sure you are good looking (hot for words anyone?) or actually do it with quality (many out there too a good home made one that i like is Epic-fu, they recently moved to Revision3).
Here is an example of what i mean, and just like this one there's hundreds out there.

I mean you are not gonna get famous by repeating what everyone knows already, try to innovate and FGS get some editing/design skills.

PACUSO - patas, culo y sobaco

Theres some stuff out there that you shouldn't have to see, do, smell or even know about. Probably PACUSO is one of them but anyway youre here now so...
PACUSO is a spanish acronym of the words "patas, culo y sobaco" which mean "feet, ass and armpits", a reference to when someone or something stinks. So basically PACUSO, things to stay away from.
